1. Who we are

Abbotsford Connect ("Abbotsford Connect", "we", "us", "our") is an online local business directory serving Abbotsford and Mission, British Columbia. Abbotsford Connect is operated by FindYou Media (findyou.media), the production house behind the FindYou.ca directory network, of which Abbotsford Connect is a part.

This policy is written to meet the requirements of Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).

2. What we collect

We only collect what we need to run the directory. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:

When you join the waitlist

• Your email address.

If you choose to send business details

• Your name or role, business name, and business phone number.
• Business website, address, hours, categories, and service description.
• Photos, logo files, brand guidelines, brand colours, and video links you upload or link to.
• Your Google Business Profile link, and whether you want its public rating and reviews displayed on your listing.
• Chamber of Commerce membership, and any existing listing you hold with Chilliwack Connect or another directory in our network.
• Your communication consents (email, and optionally SMS).

Automatically

• Standard server log information: IP address, browser type, referring page, and pages viewed.

We do not collect payment card details on this website. If and when paid memberships open, payments will be processed by a third-party payment processor and we will not store your full card number.

3. Why we collect it

• To add you to the launch waitlist and tell you when we open.
• To build, verify, and publish your business listing, and to send it to you for approval before it goes live.
• To contact you about your listing, your account, and directory news.
• To operate, secure, and improve the website.
• To meet our legal and record-keeping obligations, including proof of consent under CASL.

We will not use your personal information for a new purpose without telling you and, where required, obtaining your consent.

4. Consent, and how to withdraw it

We collect, use, and disclose personal information with your knowledge and consent, except where the law permits or requires otherwise. By submitting a form on this site you consent to the uses described in this policy.

You can withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer maintain your listing. To withdraw consent, email abbotsfordconnect@findyou.media.

5. Email and text messaging (CASL & A2P)

Email

We send commercial electronic messages only to people who have given consent. Every commercial email we send identifies Abbotsford Connect, gives a valid mailing address and contact, and includes a working unsubscribe link. Unsubscribe requests are honoured without charge and within 10 business days, as required by CASL.

Text messages (SMS)

We keep records of the consent you give — what you agreed to, and when — as CASL and A2P registration require.

6. Who we share information with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only:

• Publicly, in your listing — the business information you give us for publication (name, address, hours, categories, contact details, website, photos) is published on the directory and may be indexed by search engines and AI answer engines. That is the purpose of a directory. Do not send us anything you do not want published.
• Within the FindYou.ca network — where your business serves more than one city, we cross-link your single listing to the relevant city directories operated by FindYou Media. The master directory routes through findyou.ca. Personal information may be handled by FindYou Media and by staff working across the network's directories for the purposes described in this policy.
• With service providers — hosting, email delivery, SMS delivery, form processing, analytics, and payment processing, acting on our instructions and bound to protect the information.
• Where required by law — in response to a valid legal demand, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.

Some service providers may store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States. While outside Canada, information may be accessible to foreign courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities under the laws of that jurisdiction.

7. Cookies and analytics

The waitlist page itself sets no advertising or tracking cookies. Once the directory is live we may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which categories and pages are used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser; core parts of the site will continue to work.

8. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here, or as required by law. Waitlist emails are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. Listing information is kept for as long as the listing is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards for records and reinstatement. Consent records are kept as long as required to demonstrate compliance.

9. How we protect it

We use reasonable physical, organizational, and technical safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS), access controls, and limiting access to those who need it. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Your rights under Canadian law

Subject to limited legal exceptions, you have the right to:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used and disclosed.
• Access a copy of that information.
• Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Withdraw your consent, and ask us to stop contacting you.
• Ask us to delete information we no longer need.

Email abbotsfordconnect@findyou.media. We respond to access requests within 30 days, as PIPEDA requires. We may ask you to verify your identity first.

11. Children

This site is intended for business owners and adult residents. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the directory develops. The "last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version. Material changes affecting how we contact you or use your information will be communicated by email to affected members.
